Ms. Cruz's Class Library

I LOVE reading!!! I want to instill that love in my future students. Reading can take you places you never dreamed you could go before.
The Snowy Day - Ezra Jack Keats

This book is about a little boy named Peter who experiences snow for the first time. This text would be great to read right before a snow day or even after. You could read it and get the students to share their experiences with snow. If your students do not have experience with snow, you could make snow in science and then you could have a snowball fight using cotton balls with the students.

Fancy Nancy - Jane O'Connor, Robin Preiss Glasser

Fancy Nancy is a great book to teach students new vocabulary. This book series helps students build their knowledge of "fancy" words. It is a super cute series and I would definitely love to have some of these books in my class library one day.

Wilbur is the runt of the litter and when the farmer wants to get rid of it, Fern rushes to Wilbur's rescue. They form a bond and a friendship that cannot be broken. This is a super cute book, that teaches students about caring and loving for our friends. This book could be used in a third, fourth, or fifth grade class.

The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Official Illustrated Movie Companion - Perry Moore, Andrew Adamson, C.S. Lewis

This is a story of 4 children who get shipped away during war to be kept safe. They find a magical wardrobe that takes them to another land and become warriors to help save Narnia. I love this book!!! My 5th grade teacher read this to us and it became one of my favorite books of all time! I would use this book in a fourth, fifth, or sixth grade class. You could read this together as a class or you could have them read it for AR points. My teacher used this book as a way for us to have quiet time between subjects. If we were feeling overwhelmed, she would turn the lights down low and let us lay our heads down and read this story to us. It always made me feel so calm while listening to her read the story.
